Freedom
Good Morning, Baby Girl,
I know you’re in a hurry to meet with your friend for discipleship so let’s make this quick.
While you were running and listening to the song “I Thank God” where it says, “Hell lost another one, I am free,” you began thinking about the woman you introduced to Me last night after the church service who had just one month ago contemplated suicide. You’re wondering if simply by merits of having accepted the gift We made of salvation through Jesus and the honor of being the temple of Holy Spirit who is working in and leading you… if all men can truly be free.
Are you free?
Were you previously bound? How long had you confessed to be a Christian before you learned how to fellowship with Me?
39 years.
In those 39 years, had you experienced freedom?
No.
Why?
This goes back to that question of Lordship. You had trusted Me as your Savior but I had not become the LORD of your heart because you had been unwilling to surrender completely. You held on to your prior way of thinking and adopted the patterns and habits of the religious community you were raised in. They taught My Word but failed to live in and model My freedom. Religion was modeled for you and, being an overachiever, you prided yourself in adopting those patterns as fully as you were humanly capable.
As you know now, there’s a better way. The woman you met last night was very anxious because she felt like simply being in a church that didn’t have crosses on the wall and didn’t follow the model she grew up with that somehow she was being a traitor to the “recipe” she came from. We will not mention her denomination because, as you know, any denomination who believes that Jesus is the risen Savior is the main ingredient makes the cookbook. As you also know, it’s possible to be saved and yet starving from lack of companionship with Me.
There IS freedom for EVERY captive! There IS a better way - but few will find it.
These letters are full of My truth, written in your voice, and spoken by Me in a way you needed to hear it. These letters have not become Scripture for you, but they have drawn you deeper into My Word to search out and meditate on the truth contained within them. Encourage those who read these letters to see them not as My Word for their lives but as a reflection of My LOVE for them and My desire to be known by them.
You wanted to write, “My desire to know and to be known by them.” Glad you’re listening! I don’t desire to know them because I already know them deeply. I know every last breath they have breathed intimately. It was My breath. I know every hurt and heartache, every joy, and every victory. I know it all.
Now, I just long to BE known because to know Me is to know freedom - and I desire freedom for all My children.
Get your shower. Don’t make your friend wait.
