Renew Your Mind about Money
Baby Girl,
The enemy just came hard at you about food. You had 40 minutes until you needed to pick your mom up for Bible study.
It was not time to eat AND you were not hungry but you thought, "I want Taco Bell." In your mind, you saw yourself binging.
Your heart started racing pulling off the exit ramp as you mentally pictured the cash folder in your purse to see if there was any cash in it. You didn’t want to have a receipt because you knew you were going to eat more than was reasonable.
That is your old disordered thought process. Where do you think those thoughts originated? No one cares if you buy Taco Bell. It's that familiar desire in you to hide poor choices.
When your heart started pounding out of your chest, if I didn’t know you better, and if I was one to place bets, I would’ve put money down on you giving into the temptation.
The first problem is that you didn’t catch the initial thought.
No, the initial thought was not that you wanted Taco Bell. The initial thought was, “Should I buy myself a pair of Birkenstocks when I’m also getting my daughter some for her birthday?”
I’m glad you paused when you heard My Spirit gently remind you that eating anything when your body doesn't need it is hamartia.
Good for you saying, "Nope. Not today, satan. That was a solid attempt but I'm led by the Spirit and I refuse to act on your suggestions." Sounds real spiritual, but all that he did was walk through an open door.
You’re wondering where you opened the door to the enemy to mess with you about food like that?
You simply spent money on something you don't see as a need for yourself. That opened the door to anxiety.
Why do you think you have so much anxiety around money?
You have no fear of lack. You know and truly believe in your heart that I have always provided for you financially. Your husband is far from controlling about money; in fact, he’s bothered by how tight you are with it at times.
Anxiety is evidence you are entertaining the spirit of fear in this area. It’s genuinely time to renew your thinking about money.
Until you deal with your money issues and renew your mind to My way of thinking, money will continue to be an open door to the enemy.
I can’t renew your mind for you but I’ve provided everything you need to renew it in My Word.
Food for the stomach and the stomach for food but I will destroy them both. Food isn’t the problem. Food is a diversion tactic of the enemy.
