Pace of Ministry
Baby Girl,
Proceed with purpose, not urgency. There is to be no urgency as the day of Christ's return draws near, only a renewed sense of purpose. Urgency is born of fear and perfect LOVE casts out fear.
Share the truth of My Word with quiet confidence.
Urgency with an indefinite timeline breeds exhaustion and burnout. There is no exhaustion or burnout in a divinely paced ministry.
Noah was 500 years old when I commissioned him to build the ark. He did not know it would take over 100 years to build that ark. He only knew that building the ark was his assignment. The men of Noah's generation laughed as, day after day, for 100 years, he plugged away with his sons cutting down trees, planing wood, fashioning nails and painting with pitch.
He did not know the exact day the flood would come, but rather that it was coming and that he was to build with purpose. He went to bed when the sun went down, ate meals with his family, played with his grandkids, celebrated all the festivals, and lived a good life while plugging away at the mission. I patiently waited year after year as they continued the work I had set before them.
I didn't hover, barking orders to hurry up or warning them they might also be caught in the rain. They worked consistently with purpose and vision until the task assigned was completed and THEN I moved.
Your grandma spent her whole life certain that she would see the return of the LORD in her lifetime, and many in your generation are saying the same. She was not wrong and neither are they. The time of the LORD is drawing near.
Where My children are missing the mark is treating the calling on their lives with the urgency of the hare in the fable of the tortoise and the hare. Ministry after ministry is being started and people take off like a jackrabbit out of the gate. They expend all their time, energy, and resources creating a name for themselves. They are building their rapidly growing ministries on sand, and many at the expense of their families.
Be like the tortoise. Don't watch the hare and worry that you are falling behind. Proceed at the pace of grace. Wake up each morning and, for the joy set before you, take up your cross and follow Me.
Ministry has NOTHING to do with winning the race; it has EVERYTHING to do with crossing the finish line WITH Me.
Back to sleep, Little One.
LOVE,
Daddy
